Looking for a factory subsonic load in 223 for hog hunting
Or any accurate load recipes.

Rifle is Ruger compact bolt action with 16.5" barrel and 1:9 twist.

If I were doing that, I'd start with a medium pistol powder, similar in burn rate to Unique, for such a light load. I would be concerned about leaving a bullet in the barrel at those low velocities. You probably want to use a lighter bullet than the twist would indicate at those low velocities.

This may be uncharted waters-BEWARE!

Austin Hunter: there is a company located in Austin that loads subsonic .223 for Ray's Hardware in Dallas. You might call Ray's and ask them about it....ask for Chuck.

Is this a Texas thing, using sub-sonic 223 for hogs? I hear that in Georgia they use a 22 LR. Wink
