Going on vacation to Carlsbad with the family in March ... any pigs within 200 miles? (Forgive me if this is a dumb question, not familiar with CA other than it's a PITA to ship a gun there)

There was a ranch in Riverside, but I can't recall the name......maybe Big Horn Ranch? There's a sizeable pig population on the central coast, but that's quite a haul north from where you will be. Riverside -- if the the outfit is still in operation might be your best bet from a travel perspective.

Russ,

I wish there were. SoCal does not offer a whole lot of big game hunting opportunities.

The central coast has hogs. The area is generally a 4-6 hour drive from Carlsbad. YOu would need to hire an outfitter, as most all of the line land is private.

There are a few spots you can hunt on BLM land around a 3 hour drive north. But there is not a whole lot of game.

The only other place is http://www.bighorncanyonranch.com . Small, high fence operation. Not been there, but it looks like shooting livestock.

Drop me a PM if you want some suggestions in Central Cal.

Good luck!
