Grandson's first kill!!

Larry MatherneGrandson's first kill!!
Well not really. Actually he is holding a cap pistol he brought along to handle the big boars. It seems that him and me got left behind on this hunt. The dogs jumped up this boar and it took off, with dogs in pursuit. I went back to get the wheeler and grandson and never caught up to the action. Son-in-law did and put and end to it all with his .38. Boar had some dog killers in his snout, but they don't show up so well in this photo.
But I did spend some quality time with the grandson and got in the picture. Not a bad morning.

CrazyhorseconsultingGood Times, those are memories that will stay with that young man for the rest of his life.
He will be able to tell his kids and grandkid's about his hunts with his Grand Dad.
Congratulations.

Larry MatherneThanks for the kind remarks Randal and Charlie they are much appreciated.
Your post Randal brought to my remembrance my hunts with my Grandfather Pierre Dufrene. He would paddle me along the bayous in his homemade cypress dugout pirogue to hunt poule d'eau (coots) with his double barrel .410. Yes we Cajuns eat coots. The .410 was all I could handle at the time. My grandfather could paddle a pirogue from dawn to dusk non stop.
I wouldn't trade those hunting and trapping memories for all the gold in S. Africa. Thanks Randal for the reminder.

CrazyhorseconsultingMy pleasure Larry. The way our country and the world are headed, after our generation is gone, all those coming along after us, especially the grandkids/great grandkids, may have is memories of what was.

georgeldLarry:
The main thing is to get the kid out in the woods as much as you can. He'll pick it up with enough times out.
Wish you well, nice hog by the way.

Swede44magCongrats on the hunting time spent with your grandson nice pig.
My grandparents passed before I was 7 so I have no memories of them

My father took me hunting when I was so small he had to carry me now I take him hunting.
I wish Kansas hadn’t banned hog hunting it looks like a lot of fun but at least we have deer.

Outstanding! Fine looking young man there, hopefully a beginning of many more great times together!

I can't wait until the grandsons are old enough to go out in the field but one is only 11 months old and the other won't be born until July.

Larry MatherneThanks again to all. Hunting and fishing with the Grandson (Cody M. Dufrene) is a huge blessing. I have a number of firearms with his name on them, when he eats a few more beans.
