PeterCutaway pictures of Hogs?
A little late, but does anyone have any cutaway pictures of Hogs that would indicate where to aim when hunting these?
Thanks, Peter.

Whitworthdustoffer -- glad you posted that. That particular diagram has been posted here several times and I always fail to save it. Not this time! Every time someone asks, I tell them to do a search......

PeterThank you gentlemen! The two pictures don't seem to agree. In the first (link) the heart seems very low. The one by 600 makes more sense to me as far as the heart location is concerned. Comments?
Peter.

WhitworthI find the first diagram to be more accurate with respect to the location of the heart. It sits very low in the chest.

dustofferHogs don't seem to be as "deep" through the brisket, thus the heart sits an inch or so lower than you'd expect. However, the "right behind the ear" sweet spot is there on every one of them.

PeterOK, is the "behind the ear" shot a spine shot?

<shankspony>In the second picture, forget about the pig the image is superimposed on, the actual skelliton (SP?)with the heart in place is correct and there is actually not much extra other than a layer of fat and skin covering the brisket and ribs.

GeedubyaI typically try to place a bullet about two inches below the ear on a line between the ear and shoulder. Severs the spinal cord and they drop and paddle. DRT

dustofferThe one "right behind the ear" hits the atlas vertebrae--the large one, first in line behind the skull. If it doesn't sever the spinal cord, the shock puts them flat on the ground.
Brain shot is in the ear or about 1/3 of the way forward and just above line from the earhole to the eye.
