Seems like a while!
As dry as it is around here you would think the pigs would be running to feeders. Just not so. Started patterning a sounder of piglets. Every other night at one location. I miss counted and sat Friday night! Went again last night and heard em coming a little after ten. The piglets stirred up dust rushing in! Only one sow was with em. I think this is the same bunch from when I botched the shot and accidently took out the baby! Appears a 416 is lethal even placed badly! She danced/jumping in and out of the light until I was afraid the little ones would eat all the corn and leave! Finally mistake! She slowly moved out of the pen. I know she was hit hard. I forgot my flashlight and try as might I could not see any sign with the atv lights. Rode back to the truck and returned with a flashlight and found her 15 yards away.

I figure maybe 125# with a 375 Ruger 250 gr. Sierra game king!

Well done. tu2 tu2 It's amazing how hard it can be to see a downed hog at night. I got myself the little Leupold Thermal monocular for just that purpose and am really liking it so far.

Got a small sow yesterday morning but did a stupid thing during the retrieve. Details in the "I forgot where I live" post.

I have worn pants and socks only to end up with red bugs! At least scratches don't itch like crazy!

That's a good point. And red bugs seem to be pretty bad this year.

this sounds familiar to me
About two weeks ago i took my 416 Rigby out for some exercise near Pearsall Tx. about 7 PM.
Saw some Sows At 75 yds, Put the gun up and the scope was fogged up RATS
Now I know it was about 107 degrees that afternoon but I was still disappointed in the scope.
I was able to see one sow through the scope and at the shot about three took off through the knee high grass.... upon walking up to the spot------- I found her DRT.
The Leopold 1.5 x 5 is back at Beaverton OR.
I am thinking the gas got out or the glue that holds the lenses together failed.
sorry no pics.

Don't know about your 'red bugs', but, a few drops of diesel #2 on boots or pant leg cuffs will stop chiggers.
Learned that trick when trucking in those areas right away thanks to others in the know.

That term is no longer politically correct!

The proper term now is Chiggeros!
