Bob in TXTexas Hog
A few of us headed to Victoria, Texas over the weekend for some pork popping.
I got a nice 100 pounder for the freezer. I was trying out the new VRL-1 scope/rifle light on my 7mm-08 with a green light. It worked great on my 124 yard shot.

dustofferWTG Bob!! I found out that my game camera is lying to me!!!!! Pictures said I had 2 sows coming every night between 7:30 and 10:00. Not so--all I saw last night was 2 big 'coons.

georgeldNice Bob, happy for you getting a good killing shot in the dark.
How many, how long did you hunt etc?
That's quite a drive from up here.
Thanks,
George

WhitworthNice shooting, Bob!! Congrats!

I too have an XLR 250 (and an XLR 100) and use it every time I head to North Carolina on hogs. Works like a charm!

Bob in TXI also have an XLR-250 Kill Light, but the one I was using for the first time was the VRL-1 by Selph Arms:
Link-Click HereIt comes with both red and green modules included in the package.

tiggertateI got my Selph light the other day and went out last weekend. Didn't see any hogs but the light is very impressive.

swifter 220Bob,I am old school and have been useing a red spotlight for more years than I want to remember. What would be the difference between the red and green lights? I like the ability to attach the light to a scope, but the difference in color is what I am intrigued about.
Appreciate the reply.

Bob in TXI am old school too. I still prefer red for predators, but I honestly don't think it makes a difference. The green reaches farther and lights up hogs better.

swifter 220Thanks again for the reply. I suppose I will get one and try it. I have a pig shoot lined up for next week out south of Abilene and would be as good a place as any to give it a try and critique the light. Last year when we were out the country seemed to be overrun with pigs and the info I have gotten is that it hasn’t changed much.

Shotgun31I was on the hunt with Bob, and I took the gilt home with me. I can attest that it was perfect eating. I boned everything but the ribs, and had it made into bratwurst. Cooked up the first batch tonight with sauerkraut and it was just delicious!
