.338 win on hogs
Anybody using .338 win for hogs? If so, what loads have you had best success with?

You would have to try real hard to make any load out of a 338 not work wonderful on any hog alive.
Any 338 bullet over 200 grains and travelling in the upper 2000 range is more then adequate out to as far as anyone should shoot responsibly. If you have a 338 and shoot factory loads you can kill cleanly any wild boar alive today with ease.

That's been my experience with Speer boattails in other calibers. I would recommend them only for fairly light game (and of course, a .338 isn't normally going to be used for "light game").

I shot a couple of hogs (200 lb range) with some factory winchester 200 grain ammunition several years ago, and it performed quite satisfactorily. As another said, almost any bullet from a .338 is more than sufficient for hogs.
