Crazy things hogs do
I hunt hogs a lot, a hell of a lot actually. Lots of them at my ranch. I got to thinking about some of the things I have seen them do. Here are a few:

1- Run up to an electric fence . They start squealing about 10’ before the fence. Then run right on through it.

2- I had a massive boar around a few years back. He knocked the spinner off the feeder twice . It was 6’7” off the ground. He was massive. We called him 3B which stood for big black bastard.

3- most of my traps are completely enclosed . We caught a big hog one day. We loaded it on the trailer inside the trap. Off we go to give it away. When we arrived, it was gone. I’ll never figure that one out .

4- I have seen them jump out of traps that were at least 5 feet high .

We called our biggest boar "Beetle" because he was the size of a VW Beetle.

That's actually fascinating Larry. They are interesting critters for sure. Never did see one alive in my two years near Abilene. Wanted to.

I've witnessed them stalking. I was calling turkey and I saw a sow appear upwind. Once she saw the decoys, she retreated and reappeared down wind and slowly stalked towards my decoys. I shot her as she passed 15 feet from me.

I witnessed the same thing one night when calling for coyotes. With my thermal, I watched a boar work his way towards my Foxpro and shot him when he was 10 feet from it.

I have had few with marginal shots where they couldn’t move well come after me
I actually track wounded ones with double barrel shotgun loaded with buck shots
Safer than sorry as I have seen few older guys when I was young with few scars on their legs

Never been lost, just confused here and there for month or two
