Guestimate on size?
These have been the norm for what I have been catching on my trail camera (for comparison). They are somewhere between 100-150 pounds.

And this is what I caught the other day.

I know that he is big but I have never killed anything that big so I have no idea what he would weigh. Any guesses?
Also for reference the weeds that he is standing in are about 2 1/2 foot tall.

If it is not a distorted photo (depth off), I would think that boy is 300 - 325 lbs. Hard to tell for sure.

Here is a 320 lbs hog I shot in Texas last month (June 2007):

And here is a 289 lbs hog shot at the same ranch, but in January 2007. Shot by Mississippian:

No idea, but I think this would be a good time to leave the .22 mag home and take a BIG rifle. Smiler

Post the weight after you shoot it, and we'll all see how close we came.

I am hoping that I can take him down and get him to a scale before to long so that we can see who is the closest. I have something of a personal vindeta against him because I am pretty sure that he is the one that knocked my last feeder over and destroyed it.

frankie2000, is that a docked tail I see in the photos ? 250 on the hoof and 175 hanging on the rail.. if he is a cut hog, dont overlook the bacon when processing him. khh

I am dont think his tail is docked because I have other pictures of a large hog that I am pretty sure is him and there is a full tail. I think it might just be the way that he is holding it in this picture.

pig math is similar but backwards to tent math*.
with a pig you estimate how much a dog would weigh if it were that big then multiply that time 2.4.
very easy. if you see a pig like the one on the first pic you say " a dog that tall would be 70 pounds so they are probably 170 pounders.

* Tent math is the application of known published tent occupancy estimates as it relates to actal normal human being.
MBS (manufactures Bullshit) divided by 2.4 = AO (actual occupancy rating)
ie a 12 man ten will actually hold 5 men or 7 migets or 42 mexicans (without boots and hats) Wink

Like the pics thanks for posting. Would it not be better when talking weights to guesstimate them dressed, or weight them after they're gutted? Just curious, because where I'm at it is just a given that all weights are field dressed. Live weights are harder to picture. And of course the other part of it is that the game is sold, so it has to be weighed to get the price, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

One that size I wouldn't bother to dress. From what I understand when they are that big they are no good to eat, to tough and gamey. About the only thing that I would do with him is shoot him and take some pictures. If he has decent tusk I will possibly do a European mount but other than that I am just thinking extermination. I have seen the damage that small hogs can do to a field in one night, I couldn't imagine what he could do.

250 lbs is about the turning mark in our neck of the woods. Usualy once you have the skin off, you will know instantly if the meat is no good, it will smell like a gabrage can that hasn't been dumped for a couple of months....

In Florida where I have hunted hogs pretty extensively, 200 pounders are already getting into the stinky zone. The exception to that rule was this red one in my signature who went a hair over 200 lbs.......
