Geedubyaa couple of bar b q sized porkers taken while dodging Hill Country raindrops
Went to my lease north of Lost Maples in Tx. hill country a couple of weeks ago. Hadn't been up there in a couple of weeks, and I was suffering from SDD (shooting deficit disorder). Get kinda cranky in my old age if I don't kill something every couple of weeks. Thought I'd check my game cameras and maybe pop a couple of hogs in the evening. First stop I scared off a big boar and didn't get a shot. Second stop heard the pigs but didn't see anything. Third feeder is on a highline right of way. I can see the feeder from the road about a half mile away. Looked through my binocs and spied a hog so big that I thought it was a cow at first. Drove to within 500 yds or so and decided to put a stalk on. Got to within 75 yards of the big one when one of these little porkers started walking straight towards me. I knew if I didn't put him down first I'd be busted. Dropped the first one and the others scattered. Didn't get the big one but dropped the first piggies twin on the run with second shot. Not to bad. Cured my SDD symptoms on the spot. Perfect bar-b-q size.
Used my Browning micro medallion in 7-08 and 140 gr. accubonds. Shoot them behind the ear and they are DRT.

hoghuntingLooks as if the rains have helped a lot as both pigs have full bellies. Good shooting and very good eating!

GeedubyaI'm not a drss guy or a certified big bore nut, but from my experience you can take hogs with...
a45-70
or a 375 H&H
or a 30-06
or a 7-mag
or a 257 weatherby
or even a 240 weatherby
or so I've been told
