PC.338 225 gr hornady Spire Point V 225 Gr woodleigh protected Point.
I would like peoples opinion on these two .338 bullets for pigs and which they feel would be be the better bullet, would the woodleigh's just wiz through and not expand and will the hornady go end to end through a big pig.
I know either would kill pigs.......................but which would peform best, the softer non premium or the premium.
Given we are not talking about elk or eland here

NBHunterI would not count on the Hornady to always penitrate end to end although it may. The Hornady like you said will kill pigs but if you like exit wounds they may not be up for it, particularly if they are driven too fast. As for the Woodleigh, I wouldn't worry about them not expanding. They are a pretty tough bullet as far as standing up to heavy game but they are still made to open up easily at the nose.
What velocity would you be looking at?

Kyler HamannWhile many pigs have been taken with the Hornady's, I've personally have had horrible experiences with both the .338" 225gr. and the .308" 180gr. Hornadys.
Any of the premium bullets would be better than the Hornadys if you want to include all angles and all sizes of pigs.
All the best,
Kyler

PCThanks folks,
I assume I will get either bullet to run at around 2800 fps..........................may be a tad quicker if I have a fast barrel.

Definatly go with the Woodleigh then. If you want exit wounds I would not push them beyond that speed.
