John GaltLooking to potentially book a last-minute wild hog hunt
Hello all,
I'm wondering if you could clue me in on a few places to check out. I'm looking to book a last-minute wild hog hunt somewhere within driving distance (12-16 hours max) of MN, WI, IA, or SD. Ideally, I'd like to book with a place that is bare-bones and no-frills, but that could offer me an abundance of hogs in a non-trophy size class. I don't really care about trophy-sized animals- just "a target rich environment."
I'm really just looking to blast some piggies with a few big bores to bloody them (.375H&H, .458 Lott and a .454 Casull) before our first-born arrives in June. I'm thinking there is a weekend in April that would be ideal, or possible EARLY May. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
John

600 OverkillHere's a couple to look at close by. The guys at Stone Creek in MO. have a nice place & you can hunt any way you want. I shot an eater pig & a nice spanish ram there a few yeas back. Loyd @ Scenic View often has deals on pigs so ask for a deal. It's a small bare-bones place and you have to stay at a motel. There's a couple of places in the UP of MI if you want to go that way. Bear Mountain has some monsters & you can ask if they have lower cost pigs to kill. I hammered a huge boar there a few years back that Greg added to his BS page :-)

I have been to lloyds as well; he is a nice guy. He has a nice scenic area in NE Iowa, which is not flat for those who think it is. He keeps hogs penned up and only lets them out when he has a hunting party in for a hunt. He also buildt a cabin which should be available by now for clients to stay in. Otherwise you can stay in furnished rooms above the barn. He also has lots of elk and deer. And horses, but those are not for hunting.
