I was fighting a horrible migraine this morning, but when I looked out and saw this boar in the pasture, I knew I had to force myself into action as fawns will be dropping before long – and hogs are really rough on the fawn crop. The range: about 185-190 yards. I took a frontal chest shot with my 7mm Bullberry as the boar faced me, and the 140 grain Nosler Solid Base (lead-tipped), with a starting speed of around 2450 fps, flew true. The hog was given to others who will make good use of it. I felt too rough to even check the bullet’s path, but I am assuming it took off the top of the heart and wrecked a lung before ranging through most of the boar’s length– but that’s just my guess as I did not check (and I almost always do as terminal ballistics are quite intriguing to me). At the shot, I could hear the audible whap of bullet contact. The hog stiffened and trotted slowly towards me for perhaps 20 yards before tipping over.

By the way, I've learned from the master himself (Geedubya). Check the glass on my rifle, Geedubya. It's your favorite model!

Good Job, hope you are now well. Just a little side note, I appreciate your willingness to help me with my Encore problems, but I gave up on the whole concept. Sold it all, barrels, receivers, and stocks/forearms. Just never lived up to my expectations.

Yea, I don't care for straight-on shots, but that is all this one would give me. But by the time it got that far back, that 140 grainer would likely have been without much "oomph" and probably did minimal damage back there. It only starts out at around 2450 fps anyway...very sedate compared to today's big boomers that most folks like to shoot.

The petitie nature of the scope don’t overpower the rifle.
At 4 power per 100yds as a rule of thumb one is good to 200 yds. with no problem
The sub-tensions on the reticle can be used for ranging.
What’s not to like.
