dustofferSolitary Boars become This!
For the most part, since the first of the year, all I'm seeing are solitary boars, and then since Sunday night, this bunch of welfare hogs have shown up. I got work to do, and it's hot, but the 12-ga and buckshot plus the trap will do 'em a job.
Don't pay any attention to date/time as when some low-lifes took the SD card from my camera couple of weeks ago, they dislodged a battery and the date/time re-set.

CrazyhorseconsultingWhen I had my last pig hunters down in mid-June, we saw a lot of hogs/pigs, 4 or 5 sows and 20 or so that size.

dustofferTomorrow night Gunsmoker, report to follow.
Been seeing a bunch of sounders like that this year. With the wet spring we had, it seems like every sow dropped 8 or 9 little ones.
I started packing a 12 gauge with #4 buckshot - but wasn't too happy with the results. Pattern wasn't dense enough. Didn't care for a bunch of wounded ones making it to the brush. Went through my stash and found a box of 1 5/8 oz "T" shot I had loaded up back when lead shot was the ticket for geese. Problem solved. Multiple hits + dense pattern + good penetration = no drama.
Wonder how many of those you could skewer with an arrow if you could line em up?

dustofferI've skewered two with an arrow once, and with the littler shoats, I'm betting I could get 3 or 4 if I was at their level in a ground blind. From up a tree, the angle would probably mean only 2.
