Larry Matherneanother hunt, more pictures
Had a good hunt yesterday morning, we got five hogs, four before 7:30 am. On the first bay we had a small herd bayed but they broke on our arrival. I managed to shoot one, it was too dark to see the sights on my revolver, just point and shoot. Dennis got another a short time later, both small hogs about 50 lbs or so. Before we could get our bearings the dogs had another bayed, about the same size, this one we caught alive. We had two more some time later, boars about 180 to 200 one caught one shot before 9:30. The action was fast and furious. This picture is dark as it was still dark in the woods when it was taken.

Larry MatherneThis boar was in a bad spot, we wanted to catch it but eventually had to shoot it.

Larry MatherneStuart trying to get to the hog to catch it, but he had to shoot it to protect the dog. This dog is gritty, as this is a bad spot, the rest of the dogs watched from a distance licking their wounds. We didn't send in the catch dogs as we didn't know how we could handle the situation with the creek and that very muddy and slippery creek bank. You could get in a jam with that very frisky hog. I have somemore of this encounter on video, it is thrilling to see.

Larry MatherneSee the antlers, we found it after it had flatten the tire on the rhino. The black hog is making his final ride enroute to the butcher's shop to become sausage.

Larry MatherneThanks Matt, the live hogs were placed in a five acre high fence impoundment to train our dogs. The tusk of the boar were removed to keep things safe for the dogs with bolt cutters.

Marko, you should have been there at the first bay with your Johnson, mutiple targets running everywhere. I was wishing I had a rifle or shotgun at the time. I could have killed three or four for sure by myself if I had been armed with a shoulder fired weapon.
