dustofferOne-Eared Boar
Have had this one on camera for several months, but his stomach got him in trouble finally.
No external ear canal opening evident--could be a birth defect or a severe injury as a small pig that healed over.

Kyler HamannMy brother shot one with NO ears many years ago. It just had "holes" where the ears should have been. It didn't have scar tissue, ragged bits of ear or any evidence to show that there had ever been anything more of the ears.
Even more odd - out of the same herd I shot a pig that only had three legs. I've seen lots of "three legged-pigs", but unlike all the others this one had no scar tissue, no visible wounds, no bone in that area or anything else that made it look like it used to have a leg on that corner.
The funny thing was that I told my brother to shoot first and then once they were spooked I'd "cull" the three-legged one. At his shot she kicked it in over-drive and was literally passing the other pigs headed back to the cover. It was like she was 25% faster because she didn't have that "extra" leg holder her back.
We called them the herd that must have grown up near a nuclear power plant. The meat was fine on both.
