Bobby Tomekfresh 'bacon bits' thanks to my 7mm Bullberry
Had a hunch about hogs today and decided to take a look outside around 9:30 this evening. Sure enough, there were a few raiding the protein I have out for the deer in a little sanctuary area near the house. I popped the first one I got the crosshairs on, reloaded and took another as they slowed down before entering a thicket. The first shot was around 170 yards; the 2nd was actually closer (around 155 yards) as they angled slightly towards me in fleeing.
I am only showing a photo of the first one. The second hog involved a lobotomy lesson, and apparently the CT 140 grain BST is a messy tool to use for such work.
Both were small boars.

Palladin8Very nice shooting.
Question: What's the difference between the 7mm Bullberry and the 7-30Waters? I have been looking at a Contender with the 7-30 Waters barrel in a pistol frame and have been thinking about picking it up.

WhitworthBobby, it's good to see you out slaying the hog population of Texas! Congratulations!

Bobby TomekPalladin8-
The 7mm Bullberry is to the Waters what the .30 Herrett is to the 30-30: a slightly more efficient version of basically the same thing.
The 7mm BB is nothing more than the 7mm International Rimmed with the unnecessarily-long neck trimmed back to give a case length of 1.75". All else being equal, the 7mm BB is usually within 50-75 fps of the Waters.

GeedubyaWho am I to believe, you, or my lyin' eyes?

Surely you're not implying that one can take medium game (even under the cover of darkness) with ballistic tips at velocities under 3K fps.

Bobby TomekWell, see, I don't like to damage any meat, so I use the Ballistic Tips. We all know they are varmint bullets and explode on the way to the target. That generally leaves the animal rolling in the dirt and laughing at the inept hunter.
But the successful hunter knows that what you have to do is carry a pillow with you (for more than just sleeping in the blind

). When the quarry hits the ground rolling with laughter, you sprint up to them, put the pillow against their face and smother 'em to death...
You can eat right up to the pillow mark...
