Bob NisbetSCOPE Interchagability Between Rifle & Air Rifle
From all I have read over the past many years, it seems that all the scope manufacturers have beefed up their scopes to withstand the most powerful recoiling rifles.
When considering a scope for an air rifle, all I can find that is different is the paralax setting and some comments that non-air rifle scopes can not withstand the opposite jostle that a spring air rifle imparts.
Have improvements translated into interchangability between weapon types.

enfieldsparesA spring air rifle delivers the "wrong sort" of recoil. But of course any PCP air rifle delivers no recoil and will be Ok with any 'scope.
Me? I would not use any 'scope not specifically stated by the maker to be suitable to used on a spring air rifle on such a weapon.

Bob NisbetMost of my scopes are Leupold. Have you ever heard of Leupold refusing a repair by saying it was dammaged by an air rifle?

jwp475An air rifle generates negative G's most rifle scopes aren't designed for negative G forces. A rifle with a brake generates both positive and negative G's and most if not all tactile scopes are designed for both positive and negative G forces.

df06I contacted Leupold about using my 3X9X rimfire scope on an airgun.
They said no problem at all.

carpetman1Most scopes are out of focus closer than 50 yards. For high powered rifles, this is usually suitable. Not suitable for air rifle range. So a scope not designed for air rifle (springer) recoil probably wouldn't be satisfactory anyways. The Leupold compact 3x-9x with EFR (extended focus range)has adjustable objective lens and will focus down to 10 meters---a great scope.

Every scope Leupold makes is rated for airgun recoil.
