pichon1Pecar 3x36
I recently purchased a rifle/scope combination at auction. The rifle was made in 1956 and the scope looks pretty old too. It is a Pecar 3x36 with Pecar/ Berlin engraved in the focusing ring along with what is no doubt a serial number, 13573. Any ideas what age it may be?
Thanks in advance.

Husqvarna M98Could be anything from 40-60:ies made, good scope, have it sent for a cleaning and o ring change and it´s good to go another 40-50 years.
Best regards Chris

Thanks for the reply Chris.
Am I correct in assuming that this particular model scope ceased production no later than the 60's. I wonder if like Zeiss there is a way of tracking the date by serial number, thanks again

Husqvarna M98P-Pecar has gone belly up/filed a Chapter 11 so to speak, tracking scopes was possible before, unsure now.
Try them, search for pecar-Berlin and see what comes up.
Best regards Chris

Bob from down underThanks Pichon1
I've got a Pecar that needs a birthday to.
It was distressing to hear that Pecar had gone out of business.
I heard some time ago that they were a family business that were pretty straight to deal with.
Thanks again mate.

Bob from down underJust got my Pecar scope back from Optical Restorers. I sent it for a quote and got the scope back repaired and serviced with an invoice. The bill was not as much as I expected. The service was better than I expected.
The scope looks great.
It even has a 3 month guarantee.
I'm happy to recommend OPTICAL RESTORERS
