Need advice on Swarovski rail mount
Howdy All:

I just bought a Swarovski scope with the rail mount because it was a really good deal.

Now I have to mount it on a Dakota Model 97 and a Kimber Caprivi. I bought the Weaver mounts that Swarovski makes, so now need really high quality Weaver bases.

I can't seem to find anything for the Dakota Model 97, just the Model 76. Maybe it's the same part? I've also hear the Model 97 is the same as a pre-1964 Winchester Express Long Action.

Can anyone recommend a particular brand or source? Thanks very much.

The best (current) Weaver bases that I know of are the ones made by Warne. They are good quality steel, and can be re-blued or color case hardened as you like.

If you call Dakota they will tell you what size to order.

These are what I have on a Mauser I shoot that has a Swarovski rail mount scope.

The most attractive ones however will be those custom made by a 'smith of your choice.

I am not sure which dimensions the Dakota receiver has, but here is my scope mount, made from Titanium - which I use on my Remington 700 and Wichester 70: (picture shows a Sauer 202):

The height is not more then on other brands - just looks very high on this image. On my Winchester 70 it fits the rear sight perfectly from the height...

I used Warne's also. All steel, high quality, and look good.
