Levers should point up (12:00 Noon) in all cases, they need to be positioned like that to stay out of the way for loading and extraction if on the right side, and on the left to stay our of the way of the bolt release in most cases. On the left its not quit as critical but it sure looks nicer.

Main grip about levers is their design is so damn ugly these days..
I have a set of old Brownells (Talley like system) but the levers are thin egg shaped and the top ground like a tiny spoon and checkered, they are beautiful. The bases are very low and dainty, yet the mounts are strong and close like a vault door..Wish I could find some more of them, old Lynn Brownell knew his stuff..

I am sure that I can grind the Talleys to about the same, so will give it a try..

Levers on the right side, because otherwise, European style carry, they would rip my clothes / hide. Even carried American way, they are less likely to do harm being on the right side.

We are talking right handed, ok?

Levers up ( both rather 1 o´clock ), so they don´t interfere with loading / unloading / manipulating the bolt.
