Scoping the Springfield Model of 1903.......
This rifle has been made into a type benchrest rifle probably made back in the 1950's, scope blocks out on barrel.....want to try a modern scope, e.g. Weaver T-36......advise please as to what base and ring set works for a 1" tube.
Thanks! r in s.

I think I got the last one piece steel Redfield base in existance. The girl at my gun dealer searched for 2 months to find one for me. Redfield quit making them a few years ago. I bought a really nice sporterized '03 and it had the abomination called "Weaver" mounts on it. It was like a wart on a pretty girl to me. If you search hard enough you might be able to find one but that is your ONLY option other than custom or weaver mounts. Good luck as it was a real search for me. Most guys w/ money to burn buy Leupold Gunsmith bases and have a 'smith make them from what I understand. By the way the Redfield base only works on '03's not 03-A3's.

Good a.m.......no holes top of both receiver rings, but there are 2 holes @ 90 degrees in rear receiver ring and 1 more in forward receiver ring.

Ray I dug through my stuff and found the package for the Redfield mount. The Redfield part # is 47386. Good Luck, Pat

In my experience, drilling and tapping out the receiver may be more difficult than finding the redfield base.
