NRA review of Leupold Freedom scopes

I just received my Feb. 2019 copy of the NRA's American Hunter magazine. I read the article on their test of the Leupold VX Freedom scopes. Given my personal experience, and that of others, I was interested to see how this scope did on the "shoot the box" test. I remember reading several other test articles of scopes in the American Hunter and this was always one of the tests used to test the scopes tracking ability.

To my disappointment the article just had a statement that "all three scopes made elevation and windage adjustments according to their turrets .25 MOA markings." Makes me wonder about the objectivity of the test.

I think little of all these magazine, web or comped internet reviews. They are all paid shills. Never anything negative.

I trust an ar member opinion (valid purchased and used product) over printed marketed fluff.

I haven't purchased or read a hunting magazine in many, many years. That's because most reviews or firearms or optics became nothing more than re-worded versions of marketing hype they were provided. I'm sure not all are like that, but I had my fill and rely instead on those with real-world experience. Plus, after the passing of Milek, nothing in those magazine interested me anymore.

I heartily agree, Bobby! Once it was bad form but these days all reviews seem to have a paid ad for the product on the opposite page. One magazine even blatantly states on its advertising website that it will provide tame reviews for those who pay up.
