Spotting Scope Micro Adjustments
I'm looking for a way to make tiny adjustments to my spotting scope mounted on a tripod. I would prefer to do this with "micro adjustment knobs" versus unlocking the pan head and then having to re-lock it - it usually doesn't end up where I was trying to aim.

I realize you can buy a very expensive tripod for star gazing that does this, but I'm looking for a less expensive solution. Is there a reasonably priced tripod that does this?

Or, has anyone tried one of these adjustable heads?

If you can find an older Bausch & Lomb spotting scope tripod I think that will work for you. It works for me..
this thread has a pic so you can see what i'm referring to

Thank you. That's the idea . . .
Funny that with all the modern advances in spotting scopes that somebody isn't making a micro adjustable tripod.

Any insights on my question about variable power B&L?

Regards,

With optics, power does not equal resolution. In my experience, the B&L zoom scope does not have the resolution (clarity) of the older fixed power Balscope Sr. I think you would be happier with a fixed power Balscope Sr with a 30x eyepiece.. they come up pretty regularly on ebay. you should be able to snag one for under 200 bucks.
But I think if you want to see bullet holes up to 400 yards you should probably step up to a Kowa. a used 821 will set you back 500 bucks

Also on the Balscopes, there is one feature between the early ones and later ones you should look out for. The older ones require a saddle mount (No screw mount to attach it to a tripod) while the later ones have the camera mount so you can attach it to any tripod. If I recall the one in yuor post the image shows the saddle mount. So if your buying one on ebay, if its the older model make sure it includes the tripod or saddle mount bracket. but Freeland still makes the saddle mounts for I think around 60 bucks
Good luck

Very good advice, and appreciated - thank you.
I'll look into the Kowa.
