jdollarLeica Trinovid vs Ultravid
i have a pair of Leica Trinovid 10x42 binos and have a chance to buy a similar size pair of Ultravids for $1000( about the same as i paid for the Trinovids). i figure i might buy the Ultravids and resell the Trinovids but i wonder if there is any significant difference between the 2( the Ultravids retail for about $500+ more). can you really tell the difference with older(66yo) eyes?? opinions?

JGRaiderI owned and hunted with a 10x42BA Trinovid for over 15 years. When the ultravid came out, I wanted one, but the difference was not worth spending the money on to my eyes. I was 43 at the time.

The Ultravid is worth the extra money.

jwp475I believe that Leica claims 5% optical difference between them.

That's what I was trying to tell you. If you want top shelf glass, a binocular that is one of the toughest there is, lifetime transferrable warranty (something leica doesn't have), feast your eyes on a Meopta Meostar HD/Cabelas Euro HD. World class stuff.

Idaho Sharpshooterhave you looked thru the Geovids side by side?
I think that rangefinder would be awfully nice on a hunt if the extra weight and bulk is not too much.
I carried a pair for a couple years. They certainly improved my hit percentage on Rockchucks.

ozhunterMost of my mates use both ultravids and trinovids.
A big bonus with the ultravids is the reduced weight.
