Nikon Monarch 6,5-20x44 AO ?
I've ordered a Rem 700 Police in .308 Win and am now shopping for a suitable scope. Most of my hunting rifles carry Swarovski scopes but this will be a target/playing rifle only and I don't want to shell out the price of a Swaro for a rifle that will never hunt. I've been offered a good deal on a Nikon Monarch 6,5-20x44 AO. The scope looks good but it's the 1st. Nikon scope I lay hands on. Your opinion pro/contra will be most welcome.
Thanks.

Andre,

The Nikon Monarch's are a great scope and I would highly recommend one. I don't think that you would be disappointed in the purchase.

Ive had several Monarchs over the yrs and for the money there are some on the best optics. Sure my Zeiss and Swarovski are better but at 3x the cost. You'll be happy.

For the $$, I consider the Monarchs the best overall deal in optics when one considers critical performance areas vs. the price paid.

You will like it... thumb

I bought that exact scope when Nikon closed out the 3X Monarchs.
Mounted on AR15 varmint and shoot little, tiny groups.
Great scope.
Compared it to Leupold and Bushnell 4200, Sightron.
Priced at $300 brand new, not refurb, iced it for me.
Great scope.
Bought mine at SWFA.com before joining here.

Andre, I have that scope on my own .308, Model 700 VS. It's been there for 10 years plus or minus, and the gun will still shoot quarter sized groups at 200 yards. It's been a very good scope--never loses zero, clear, yada yada yada...

I have several Monarch's including two 6.5-20x models. One on an informal Anschutz target rifle, the other on a Steyr .243. Terrific scope to go on your rifle.

Encouraged by your collective advice, I bought the Nikon and installed it on my new Rem 700 Police in .308 Win. I'm anxious to try out this combo at the range.
