Tasco 6X24X42 scope?
A friend of mine is looking at a Tasco 6X24X42 Mil Dot Tactical scope for $80 NIB and asked my opinion on the quality etc. I had a couple of tasco scopes back in the 70's and wasn't too impresed with them. Maybe they have improved since then. Anyone have any experience with this model ? Also, he inquired about ZOS brand of scopes. Any information would be helpful. Thanks....Jim

i dunno - tasco has a poor rep. and they did deserve it, but to tell the truth I had pretty fair luck with them. I had the 6-24 on a 50bmg for about 5 years with no trouble, then i found a 8-32 that replaced it. that one held up for about 6-8 years and then fell apart. depending on what rifle it was going on and for 80 bucks, i think it'd be worth a shot (ok poor pun) never heard of zos

This Tasco Mildot scope has a pretty good track record, I had one of these and it wasn't bad for an $80 scope, a bit dim on the higher power settings, but very serviceable. I sold it to a friend who has had it mounted on his .308 Winchester that he shoots a lot of mid to long range with, he's very happy with it. Those that have been built since Bushnell Performance bought Tasco out of Bankruptcy in 2002 have much better QC than those built previous in the years that Tasco earned the name Trashco. The earlier Japan built scopes also have a great reputation.

Thanks for the information. I will pass it on. I did find some listings for ZOS scopes on e-bay. They look like a very cheap line of rim fire scopes possibly made in China.

Half the price of the other guys. I use it on my .223

For $80 you really can't go wrong.
