Opinions on Talley light weight rings?
Think these would be tough enough to hold zero all season? I've got a Lightweight .270win, Lightweight scope and was thinking about staying with the Lightweight theme with the mounts.

Good or bad idea?

Thanks
Terry

Terry:
I haven't used the LW Talleys, but some guys over at Optics Talk have used them and have highly recommended them.

(Do a search in the "Rings and Bases" forum.)

I liked the standard steel Talleys I have used very much.

They seem to like them over there.

I wonder if there is any difference in the Kimber 8400 long and short actions as far as mounts go? I sent an email to Talley asking if they knew. It might take a few phone calls to clear things up.

Thanks for the reply!

I have 2 sets of the Talley lightweight rings/bases on the Weatherby Ultralightweight platform in 30-06 and 338-06 and they work fine. You will be happy with them. Why would anyone want steel rings in an ultralight rifle, kind of defeats the purpose. I am sure the aluminum is an aircraft grade hard alloy such as 7075 so they will take a lot of abuse before failing. These alloys are very tough.

I have a set on a Kimber 8400 Montana in 300 WSM and have had no problems. I really like them and would buy another set.

The Talley aluminum alloy set up I am referring to are not the one piece ring/base combo but are the bases and rings separately with the quick detachable levers. They are lighter, look better and really are the cats ass in the scope mount world, however at $110 per set they are not cheap.

Where did you find these rings...?

A link for us perhaps?

I own the Talley QD's never heard of the ones you are talking about...?

Those certainly don't look like quick detach rings to me...

(They don't make Lightweight QD's is the point)

For the record, I never said they were QD rings, Sir.
If I implied that to this forum, then I stand corrected of course.
I was merely trying to show a link where they could be looked at and or purchased.
