TCarterHelp natch scope to rifle
Hi all, Looking for some suggestions re: optics and rifles. This is what I am running now, hunting and target. Would you pair up differently?
Custom pre-64 300 H&H---Zeiss 2x10x42mm HD5
Cooper 7mm-08---Leupold VX-3i 2.5x8 36mm
CZ 527 Premium 223 Rem---Leupold FX3 Fixed 6x42mm
Anschutz 1712--- Weaver 4x16x44mm side focus
How would you roll??

sambarman338They all sound OK to me, except 4-16x might be a bit top-heavy on a .22 rimfire. However, your nomenclature is wrong. Try 2-10x42; 2.5-8x36 and 4-16x44. Those details fixed, you can list them all after every post like some toff crowing about his double rifles

JGRaiderI'd probably swap the scopes on the 300 HH and the .223 personally.

sputsterI would match optics pretty much the same as the OP. As to the .22, it really depends on the weapon and its use. My 10-22 with a heavy barrel wears a Leupold 4-12x40 from the 1980s, which is just right for practicing position or bench shooting. My kids' lighter weight .22 rifles have Barska 2.5x fixed power scopes.

WstrnhuntrAssuming you use the 223 for varminting, I would look at swapping the 4-16X with the 223. Dont need that much magnification for a rimfire. Dont really need that much for a 223 either but...
