German Weatherby scope
I traded for a high dollar gun that was mounted with one of the older Weatherby scopes with the double turrets on top. The rear turret contains the focus mechanism while the front turret has both the vertical and horizontal reticle adjustments. The scope is labeled "Made in Germany", but I don't know which optics company produced it. It is a fixed four power with about a 32mm objective, although it is labeled "4x81", which I'm told is some reference to its resolving power or twighlight rating. Plain crosshairs.

I have a different scope I want to mount on this gun and don't need the Weatherby. What should I ask for it?

See if this helps:

Have no idea what the price of the scope is now.

Hertel & Reuss of Germany was the manufacturer, eh? Don't know anything about them; are there other scopes made by this company floating around?

There is some more info on these scopes and the company here:

They made good optical equipment for the time. If your rifle is a Weatherby then I would keep the scope, because it may become a collectors item in the future. And if you sell it a collector may find more value in the gun that way.

Thanks for the info, Jorge!

The rifle is not a Weatherby, and I don't own any Weatherbys, so I need to find a Weatherby guy who would like it for one of his German Mark V's.
