Help ID an old Weaver scope please
Paid 5 bucks for it at the flea market, it's in good external shape. I want to get my wife a CZ Cadet, this would be perfect for it if it's in good shape internally.

It's a 1.5-4.5 variable with a blued straight taper 1" tube. Zoom ring is marked 1.5, a halfway mark, 2.5, a halfway mark, etc.

Fine crosshairs.

Turrets are divided into 15 increments making a full turn.

Eyepiece marked:

WEAVER V4.5
EL PASO TEX. USA
PAT. NO. 3161716

What era, quality, etc?

Thanks.

Two are listed in my book.

V4.5 variable and V4.5 Wide angle.

The former was made between 1968 and 1984 and the latter was made between 1973 and 1984.

Value is listed as $65.00 to $105.00 and add $15.00 if its the wide angle.

Weaver, IMO, has always made very sturdy, reliable scopes.

Earlier made variable scopes (all brands) sometimes had problems with tracking (reticule shifts) and keeping focus throughout the zoom range, but that’s pretty easy to check for.

Thank you kindlySmiler

If it isn't loused up internally, I got a deal.

I would keep the zoom on it's highest power so the tracking problem is avoided.

Thanks again.

It may not even have that problem, but it’s always something to consider and check for on older variables.

Just put the rifle on a good solid rest and get the cross hairs aligned on something then change the power and see if the reticule shifts off your POA.
