Tactical mount or not?
I have a Rem 700 in .308 Win with a Leupold 4.5x14 that I shoot for groups (handloads) and at tactical targets / plates. I have used both two-piece and one-piece Leupold bases with standard Leupold rings, which seem to function all right. I have been wondering about trying a tactical base and rings (like Warne/Leupold/EGW etc) - other than being rugged and making for repeatable mounting, do they offer an accuracy improvement over turn-in/screw-hold rings bases?

It's only shot at civilian ranges, so it's not like I'm air assaulting or bouncing around the back of a Bradley with it.

They are indeed more reliable in preserving scope adjustments during manhandling. I've trusted Warne mount and rings for my tactical .308.

---------

3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact.
5 shots are a group.

LOL, thanks for the succint replies. This will go into the "if it ain't broke" category.

And Andre, that's a very nice rig.
