larryshoresLightweight spotting scope
What is the lightest spotting scope with 50x or greater magnification?

dampatentsDo you also want to be able to see what you're looking at?

The Pentax 65ED (or whatever Doug has in current model #) can be had with a "recommended" 46X eyepiece or something higher if you don't have mirage

... pretty light scope (around 2 lbs plus) and good FOV.
Please see my Dialyt 65mm review in the forum below. It's highly carryable. Don't know if it's the lightest, but it's light. And very good optically.

PatagonHunterHi larry,
I think it is the Meopta S1 APO (the one with the objective with a much better colour aberration correction). The former top of the line before the new (1 year or so) S2.
I have one I bought throught EUROOPTIC about 3 year ago. I think they still have some.
The S1 has a 75 mm objective diameter. I bought it with the two occulars for the model: the "standard" 20x-60x and the faboulous 30X W (wide angle). I cannot ask for a more serviseable spotting scope, lighter than all the other in its class, GREAT optically (like all Meopta products), and costing half, or less now, the others TOPS L, N, S or Z...
Good luck!
