philny1Zeiss Rapid Z 800~~4.5-14x50mm
Ordered this scope for a customers Wby. A combination of the 50mm obj and barrel contour would mean using high rings, something I try to avoid.
Anyhow, I mounted it on a Sko TRGS 30-378 Wby and been playing around with it off and on all summer. At first I wasn't to keen about it, but my opinion has changed the more I use it.
This rifle is crazy accurate and has shot everything well. Currently I've been shooting 200 gr AB and 210 Bergers over Retumbo for a tad over 3100 fps. Both bullets shoot the same zero.
Per Zeiss web site, cross hair is zeroed at 200 yds, then the zero point for Bar 3==296 yds, Bar 4==399 yds, Bar 5==505 yds, Bar 6==616 yds, Bar 7==729 yds, Bar 8==846 yds. This is at full mag.-- 14x.
I have 12x12" plates at 100, 250, 300, 400, 500, 600 and 750 yds. This morning there is perfect shooting conditions, overcast and dead calm. I confirmed the 300, 400, 500, 600 and 750 bars, using the 200 gr AB.
Fast to use and accurate this reticle combined with a good range finder should prove to be deadly in the field.

Dave AndersonVery interesting information. I have a 3.5-10 Zeiss with the Rapid Z 600 on a very accurate .300 Win. Mag. (Ruger 77 Mk. II). I like it very much, a nice feature is the numbers (i.e. 4 and 6 in my scope) next to the appropriate bars so it's easy to pick the right bar under pressure.
I don't own a .30-378 at present but did shoot one of Weatherby's quite extensively, using factory ammo (180 @ 3,400). Got consistent hits on a steel plate (about 12" diameter) at 880 yards and dang, those bullets get there quick!
My PH on a 2008 Namibian hunt said he has seen several .30-378s in use which surprised me a bit.
Based on your review I may have to order one of those Rapid Z 800s.

The ShottistI have the Rapid Z1000 on my .338 Lapua.
I love that reticle.

Fish30114Like the rapid-Z a lot as well. Have a couple, have actually tinkered with the idea of a 30-378...maybe when I get a job....

Fish, you could sell 1/2 your rifles and retire forever!

Fish30114Bob, if only I could find a buyer for a few! Got several still unfired NIB as they say!
Have thought about that utopian 'cheap but cozy' cabin in the northwest somewhere a bunch in the last year...
