FjoldOpinions on a scope for a Ruger No. 1 RSI in 7x57
I have a Riger No.1 RSI that I have a Leupold VX-3 3-9X X 40 mm scope mounted on.
I think I want to get a little smaller scope for it, so I was considering a Leupold VX-3D 2-8X by 36mm.
Are there any other scopes around that size that I should consider?

eagle27The Swaro has a rather bulky looking ocular lens housing so will still look larger on the Ruger No.1 whereas the Leupold 2-8X36 has a trim looking ocular housing and the power change assist button can be unscrewed to trim off the power change ring too. Overall I think the Leupold will better achieve a smaller scope profile for your Ruger.

Thanks, when I looked at the Swaro, I thought the same thing.

Peter ConnanIt's a pity they don't still make the smaller scopes with the old-style adjustment caps.
Maybe see if you can find an older 2-7? I have one on my 7x57 falling block. A great match.

KevinNYAn elegant little rifle that would look great with an elegant old Leupold M8-4X.

kda55One of the problems with the No.1 is getting proper eye relief without crawling all the way up the stock even with the Ruger extension rings. I've tried many combos over the years and the Leupold 4 or 6x seem about the best for useability, magnification and style.

AtkinsonMine wears a 3x Leupold and it looks great and has never failed me and the 7x57. I have a draw full of 3x and 4x Leupolds, they just fit a compact gun especially full stocked hunting rifles..ZMy Ruger # 1fwt in 270 wears a M-8 2x7x28 (same size as a M8 4x) notice the X28) slim clean rifles deserve scopes that match the gun IMO

p dog shooterMy no.1 sporter wears a 3x9 compact Burris.
Just the right size.
But I don't buy Burris anymore as it took a couple of years and back and forth a letter to the company president to get them to warrantee and replace a scope.
a 2.5 to 7 or 8 Leupold would be just right with their extra aiming dots.
