chazgreenLoss of "brightness" in used scope
Received used burris 6-24x44 scope saturday from snappyauctions by ebay. inspection revealed almost yellow cast when looking at snow in neighbors yard; this scope has lost its " brightness",(or should i say its contrast?). Front Edge of Scope bell has small gouge, as does tube just in front of power ring. Images through scope appear sharp, but light transmission/contrast may be adversly affected when mounted & shooting at 200 or more yards. Did previous woner do something to degrade the lens coatings, or did the significant abuse cause an air leak into the tube? any thoughts appreciated. thanks/ chaz

Rick 0311Cheap and/or improperly applied exterior lens coating[s] can wear off...and they can be rubbed off by using poor cleaning techniques and/or materials.
This can have a great effect on both color and light transmission.
