Pilad P8x56LF
I'm not big on things Russian these days but a second-hand Pilad scope has joined my collection (or will if I can fit its enormous objective in one of the boxes).

Not even sure whether it was image-moving or old-school, I cranked the elevation knob to see what happened. To say the reticle stayed centred could be a moot point because out there on the perimeter the field of view ovalled drastically, shrinking vertically. I can't say what happens when the windage knob is wound because that one doesn't move at all, even with the little screws loosened.

I see online that these scopes have SFP reticles, so assume that means image-movement because the knobs are central on the tube, not way back like an early Weaver.

The LF model's reticle can be illuminated but since the windage seems crippled, I may not bother finding batteries.

The barrel is 1" and it came with large lopsided mounts for a dovetail about 20mm wide (16mm at the narrows), which I take is for a Piccatinny rail.

Does anyone here know about these oddball optics?
