cutting a 375H&H barrel
Hi
I wonder if there are somebody hunting with shortbarrei 375H&H in Africa? I feel my barrel is too long and want it shorter like 20-22 inches for better handling. if you use a short barreled 375 or have exprience please tell me about it.

jvw375My .375 has a 23-inch barrel and is just about perfect. A lot depends on the gun, of course, but I feel 23-inches is just about the minimum. Too much muzzle flip and muzzle blast for my liking with most short-barrelled big bores.

zimbabweMy Brno 602 in 375 and my CZ 550 in 416Rigby are both 21" and have both been used in Africa with much success with the 416 taking my last Elephant. I find them to be most handy especially when getting in and out of a truck cab. They swing good and just feel RIGHT.

Scott450I have a .375H&H and a .458Lott with 22 and 23 inch barrels respectively and am very happy with them. .375 is a CZ 550 and the .458 a custom ZKK602

CA Safari HunterRuger’s Hawkeye Alaskan has a 20 inch barrel. I shot one in 375 Ruger and I liked the rifle but I ended up buying a CZ. I liked the balance of the gun but I wanted a longer barrel.
If you want a short barrel, light gun, I recommend looking at the Ruger.

yukon deltaThere are lots of short barreled 375's in Alaska. Depending on how they are set up I like them.

Tim CarneyAgree that 23" works well for my .375, a Dakota 76 and my only bolt rifle. It doesn't handle anywhere near as well as either of my doubles with 24 or 26 inch barrels...
