A PRIDE of lions has invaded Jambezi area of Hwange District where villagers have lost livestock worth trillions of dollars.
Angry villagers told Chronicle that the lions have killed eight beasts, several goats and donkeys.
They said the lions attack the livestock at night.
A villager, Mr Gift Maligo, said he lost three donkeys last week.
“There are three male lions and a lioness and two cubs that have descended on our area and they are attacking the livestock at night. It is also no longer safe to travel in this area at night,†said Mr Maligo.
The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority area manager for Victoria Falls, Warden Trumber Gura, said rangers have been sent to the area to capture the lions.
“We have to capture the lions because they are endangered species, we will not kill them. We will only relocate them,†he said.
