I'm already building a 9.3x62 so my question really concerns the 9.3x64 and the .375.

I understand the the .375 is considered the minimum by law for certain game with the exception in some places of the gradfathered 9.3x62. Does this clause also include the 9.3x64?

I have no immediate plans for Africa but several years down the line it would be nice. My 9.3x62 is an open sighted gun so one that could be scoped would be nice. That's why I've been considering building another in 9.3x64. Does it meet the legal requirements in Africa more so than the 9.3x62?

Where the laws specify caliber, a .375 is the minimum allowed except for Zimbabwe. Where the laws specify muzzle energy in joules, the 9.3x64 is legal. There are some theoretical advantages for going with the 9.3x64 having to do with its being designed to work through an unmodified M98 action. Neither you nor any game animal will be able to tell the difference in the field. The only reason for wanting a 9.3 is sheer cussedness. I had a 9.3x62 and really liked it. I like my .375 better. I don't know whether that makes me more cussed or less. There is this one factor. In a pinch, that long, sloping H&H design is a whole lot less likely to missfeed. That's why it's shaped that way. Think about this.

Yes, but that .375 doesn't fit nearly as well in a mauser. Thx for the info.
