Re: Okapi
From the photo this animal looks like God had a bunch of parts left over on the sixth day. So to get the job of creation finished God thru them all together so he could take the seventh day off.

While reviewing a Rowland Ward chart of African game fields and reserves, I came across a depiction of an Okapi. Can anyone fill me in on this animal?

The okapi is a forest relative of the giraffe. While not terribly common it is far from endangered. However, in the countries it inhabits, the species in protected. Pretty critter, isn't it? Make an outstanding rug but you'd have to somehow acquire a zoo specimen that died of natural causes.

something from the internet:

...the Okapi was discovered as late as 1901, the last large mammal to be discovered.

...if the Giraffe invited its whole family to a birthday party, the Okapi would be the only guest.

...the Okapi is the only mammal that can clean its ears with its tongue.

...the only place you can see the Okapi in the wild is Zaire's Ituri forest.

There are several Okapi at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, very beautiful animals.

I've seen them in the Dallas zoo. Although, of course taller, I would say they are about the same body size as the zebra.
