Elephant for Lion bait

I know Zebra and Hippo are great for Lion but how good is Elephant meat for Lion bait?

I think that, a day or another, threre will be a bait "a la carte"

I really believe that, more or less, the meat origin does not matter, more important I think is that it smell a lot

Elephant are good bait provided the lion haven't been over hunted or educted. The nice thing is, there is enough meat to hold a pride for a day or seven and you can often track the pride down in daylight even if you don't catch them on the bait, as they will seldom go far from such a "windfall"

I shot my lion over a bait that consisted of the hind legs of my Elephant. They, one male and four females, devoured the first leg on the first night. The next morning we "freshened" the bait with the other leg. They never went far from the site, they seem to love that sticky, smelly meat.

The three lion baits we set up with buffalo meat were only hit by one leopard. The hyenas ate the bait we set up with an eland.

Location seemed to be the most important factor.

Last year National Geographic had a special, but I forget where it was..But there was a water hole and eles migrated past and the pride was large and they would put the chomp on the calves...They were knocking them off one almost every night...

I have used it many times however I dont recall shooting a lion over it.

Anything you can hang thats big enought will work or lots of different things on the same tree.

point is it dosent matter.
