I would like to see classic rifles from the top makers. Alot of top makers do not have a web site to see the guns.

Ed,

Suggest you google Holland & Holland, Purdey, William Evans and then do some dealers like Champlin, Lewis Drake, Steve Barnett. You'll see some top doubles and bolt action rifles.

Great idea, but what fun is that? Here's a Hartmann and Weiss 505 Gibbs I'd love to have:

Ed, you should buy Craig Boddington's book, Safari Rifles II.

Boddington does a great job surveying the realm of what's been used and what's being used in the field, and discusses the virtues and drawbacks of doubles, bolt actions, etc. and the rationale for deciding which features to include or forgo in any given type of safari rifle.

Plus, the book is illustrated with many full color photos. It's very well done and an excellent resource.

I've been reading Safari Rifles II, and it really is a wonderful book with some great old rifles covered.
