Alf,
Thanks for setting us straight on the spelling of "daga bull."

The photo also explains why the term is used. Great vignette of life and near death in Africa, as related by your tale. Keep them coming please.

Were you using solids or expanding bullets?

DB,
It makes little difference as the bull was obviously shot in one lung, they normally can survive a one lung shot if the other lung is healthy and infection doesn't get them...

I have seen and heard of others that survived this shot and in one case I know of the shot lung healed and was working but had a scar tissue through it. the Buffalo tenacity for life never ceases to amaze me.

come to think of it Elmer talked of an elk that survived such a shot form a 30-06 220 gr. corelokt and others have told me of deer and elk with scared lung tissue..

Alf,

Love the picture. I also like the hamerkop. A really fascinating bird. Isn't it also called a lightning bird? If I'm wrong, just call me a klipkop!

The hamerkop spends months building its huge nest in a tree limb (usually over water) and decorates the top of the nest with bones and an occasional wildebeest tail. If I'm not mistaken, don't the locals believe that the hamerkop has some magical powers?

Regards,

Terry
