weight for a 9.3x62
I have a spare 30-06 that I'm considering having rebarreled into 9.3x62. It weighs 7.5lbs without a scope, is this too light?

No; I have two the weigh about that (one a little less and one a little more) and all I shoot is 286 Partitions in both - both are pussycats.

Only if you're exceptionally recoil shy. I used to have one that weighed less than that. It was a pocket rocket but since I already had two or three DG rifles at the time, I sold it. Some days I regret that decision. I really like the 9.3x62.

My Blaser Attache 9.3 is quite light and with the rolling "hogs back" stock I had to Mag Na Port it and use a magnum Eye relief scope. Where as with my light Husqvarna with its straight stock was not a problem.

I have a 9.3x62 Steyr that is about 7.5 lbs without a scope (8.6 lbs. with), and I am having another 9.3 built that I hope will come in right around that weight, or perhaps just a bit more than that.

I think that's a good weight for a 9.3.

Wish my CZ 550 were that light... wave

IMO, that is about perfect for a 9,3X62.

Sorry for the really thick question - I just don't know much about customising rifles - how much work would your average 30-06 need to turn it into 9.3x62? Can't be as simple as screwing on another barrel, can it. Like I said, a bone question. (Bone=stupid, dense. British army slang)

It could be even simpler...Have High Plains Re-Boring in N. Dakota re-bore and re-chamber the original barrel. It will also make the gun lighter. tu2
