Northwest Attendants Extend Job Action Deadline
Published on: August 14, 2006
Northwest's flight attendants have extended until 9:01 p.m. CDT, Aug. 25, their deadline to launch random strikes called CHAOS (Creating Havoc Around Our System) if their union has not reached a contract agreement with management. The flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA), said because of heightened security concerns it decided to grant the 10-day extension. Mollie Reiley, interim Master Executive Council president, said: "Present security concerns take precedence over all other concerns at this time, including our fight for a fair contract and our preparations for CHAOS. In order to devote our full attention to the immediate security situation, and to reduce the stress level for flight attendants until the initial reaction of the security news subsides, we have decided to extend our strike deadline by 10 days." Reiley said the flight attendants stand ready to engage in CHAOS if Northwest is unwilling to reach a fair contract agreement

mstarlingWell, that helps on the outward bound leg of the trip. Means I'll start back on the day they strike ... just might be a long trip back. Better to have delays at that end of the trip, if there have to be delays at all.

Lewis50I'll be flying with these yahoos at the end of September. I hope they've finished with their hissy fit by then or have been fired and replaced. I have no tolerance for the union mentality, especially when it affects my long awaited African hunt.
