Just curious, but over the years how many repairs have you had to make, on rifles that shooters have let "recoil free' and become damaged???

I want to know how many times that glass panel nas been broken by flying rifles.... homer

Saeed
The glass is easy, it has been replaced 4 times.

The last time I put in bullet proof glass! It hasn't broken since.

Repairs have been numerous. We had to fix a broken stock, an the site falls off almost continuously. The end of the barrel is dented and scratched from making contacto with the glass.

Apart from that it is as good as new.

Oh, I forgot to mention we lightened the rifle by removing the mercury recoil inserts clap

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

We need a video of Walter shooting that gun. Maybe you could fill him up with some good liquor to give him the courage to give it a try.

Walter refuses to shoot it.

One day he was here with another man, and I told them I will have a full load and a reduced load. I will put both rounds down, and each one picks one and shoots it.

The other man agreed.

Walter did no.

He said I am not doing it. I know saeed will put two full power rounds, and he will laugh at both of us"!

He was probably right clap

The way that guy was put together (at least on the outside) I figured he could handle it. I've seen some past video of a guy shooting that rifle three times and hardly breaking a sweat.

In Tanzania I shot some stuff with a way-to-light Harris Talon (?) 500 A2 that indeed was brutal. Especially when I shot it prone at a Thompson Gazelle. Two fingers got barked up as did my eyebrow. My PH friend, Ernst Sholtz, shot that particular rifle like it was a 30-06. He would shoot camp meat critters with it out the window of his vehicle no problem. Ernst is about 5'11 and 200 pounds. He was cut from different cloth. I would go 'all in' that Ernst could shoot 3-shots from the T-Rex and keep a decent group.

I'd like to think I could shoot it once, keep it in the black, and not drop it.

Re the damage to the rifle falling on the floor, why not cover the floor with some cushioning mattresses or something similar? Just a thought.

Saeed, have you ever gotten Roy or Alan to shoot that thing?

Roy has shot it more than any of us.

Alan has steadfastly refused to shoot it.

Not with this rifle.

We have a Thomson Cneter Contender in 45-70 Government, and we stopped giving it to people to shoot after a few got dents, scratches, cuts and dislocated fingers.

We had one smash his oun face, breaking his glasses. Another one dislocated his thump, one or two gave themselves nice dents in the middle of their foreheads.

So I decided not to let anyone shooting it.

The funny part is I don't mind shooting this pistol, but hate to shoot the rifle!

OK, Saeed, we know you hate the rifle, but why don't you show us all how it is supposed to be done?
Your incomparable finesse of the 577 Tyrannosaur would be most instructive.

Just one shot with the same load as used by the rugby player who did not have a clue about how to hold on?

You could also narrate the technique as you are setting up for the shot.
Might do wonders for the self esteem of future "champions,"
and decrease your repair bills in the "laboratory."
Use the video as preparation/instruction for champion wannabes.

Saeed made Walter the moderator for the Political Forum; it was pretty much the same effect - just no video of the maiming.

Saeed, for those who like close encounters with handguns of the hard kicking kind, try this one - http://www.gunbroker.com/Aucti...m.asp?Item=138144267. It's another TC but in the lion's head model and I think a work of art. Even its name, the Howdah, is cool sounding. Can't believe no one bid on it.

Saeed also failed to mention how many lights in the tunnel he's had to replace.

I think I took one out about 10 years ago.

And no, I didn't drop it either.

I have given up on how mny lights were shot in our tunnel.

In fact, we now keep a stock of them eher to avoid running to the store so often.

I cannot imagine a buffalo getting killed any better than with my 375/404.

Actually, I would love to take it this one as well as our 600NE and 700NE.

But, due to all the silly regulations and hassles one has to go through, taking two identical rifles - 375/404 - with one lot of ammo makes much better sense.

We have not had a single man who is a regular shooter drop the rifle.

And out of those who are not shooters, I would imagine about 10% of them drop it.

Saeed also very kindly had my wife and I to stay a couple of years ago and I was offered a shot with that thing.

Needless to say I declined, I am not as stupid as I look, and years of my "putrid thing" .458 win mag has softened me.

BTW the "putrid thing" is Roy Vincent's description of my trusty old 458...
