DonatoBack From Zambia
I got home a couple of days ago from my buff hunt in Zambia. I spent one week in the Livingstone area, touring, rafting and a trip
Chobe Nat Park. I then hunted buff in the lower lupande concession with Peter Chipman. This was my first buff hunt and I got lucky and took a very nice buff over 40 inches along with a puku, water buck, Chobe bush buck and hyena. To say I had a great time would be an under statement. I saw many ele in the 55 - 70 lb range and three leopards in broad day light. I will post a hunt report later. I did do one stupid thing on this trip and that was letting SAA talk me into flying through London to go home. No rifles and baggage so far and I lost my delta miles for that part of the trip. Other wise, everything went well.

MARK H. YOUNGDonato,
Glad you had a great trip. That area along the luangwa is one of my favorites. Your right there are lots of ele's there but I don't remember the big bulls you spoke of but I was there earlier in the year. I'll be interested in your full report.

Hugh WDonato,
Very interested in your hunt report. I do not know what your prior african hunting experiences consist of; but would be very interested in any comparison / contrast you could give on Luanguwa vs. Zambezi Valley vs. Selous. Thanks and Congratulations, Hugh

DonatoHugh, this was my first DG hunt and I never been to the other areas you mentioned. I'm sure others on this site would be able to help you with your question

lb404Donato, It sure sounds like you had a great time. We missed out on the Livingstone part of our trip due the the presidents party there. Isn't it amazing to see all of those elephants with big ivory and able to get really close? Congratulations on your buff.

Bill CCongratulations Robert on the buffalo, looking fwd to seeing a picture.
Mark, Peter called today to touch base and said that he shot three 60+lb elephant so far this year, I think he said 62, 64 & 67 pound bulls. I saw and took some pictures last Sept of some in this class. I don't know how many there are in the area and South Luangwa park, and this is probably not sustainable, but there are/were some nice ones.

lb404We actually saw what Sarge felt were six bulls as big as had been shot. I have a picture of a bull about a half a mile off that Sarge said would go over 80 to 90 per side. I am not sure if an expanded view would be detailed enough for all to enjoy.
