M1TankerRobert Ruark books wanted.
I am looking for books by Robert Ruark that someone is willing to part with. I just finished reading "Use Enough Gun" and loved it. As a kid I used to love reading "The Old Man & the Boy" stories each month in the back of Outdoor Life (or was it Field and Stream?) It was the first thing I read each month. I didnt know that Ruark had written those until I read "Use Enough Gun". I would love to buy some of his other books if anybody is willing to let them go.

HunterJimBill,
I have had good luck with bookfinder.com for used books. Also looking around in used book shops works in San Diego -- there are a lot of them.

My father new Robert Ruark, and grew up in coastal North Carolina where Ruark lived as a child. In 1958 when "The Old Man and The Boy" was first published, my father gave me a copy of the book. I was nine years old at the time. I have read that book no less than 50 times over my 56 years, and it has been a fascination to me on many an evening. There is a combined volume of "The Old Man and The Boy" and "The Old Man's Boy Grows Older" available. If you have a child that loves the outdoors they will love those two books. Since my first encounter with Ruark in 1958, I have read everything he has written. I took my first trip to Africa this year, and much of what I read echoed in my mind during my safari.

BFaucettTanker,
Check out
http://www.abebooks.com/ Lots of used books at good prices. (Quote from the site: "
12,000 booksellers selling 50 million new, used, rare & out-of-print books.") I've used them a lot. I've never been disppointed with the books I've purchased. Be sure to check the Glossary on the site for "Book Condition". The sellers describe the condition of their books using the given terminology. Also, once you've done a search, you can sort by price.

M1TankerI was able to find what I think are all of his books on
www.amazon.com by doing a search using his name. I sure like the stories he writes and also his own experiences. "The Old Man and the Boy" stories are still some of my favorite reads of all time. Now I just need to talk the wife out of the credit card to order them.
Books A Million, at
bamm have a bit larger range of new copies, and their pricing's generally a bit better than Amazon.
Especially for the hardcovers, and it's worth getting Ruark's books in that format!
Good service too.
Cheers,
Doug
You can also try
Powells . They have a large selection of used books.
