I live on the coast of Maine so the next few days should be interesting. Thanks for the good thoughts.

Most of Vermont is still cleaning up from Irene. People are very worried here.

My thoughts and prayers go out you guys that could be affected by this storm. Being born and raised here near the South Texas coast I have been through my share.

It is interesting, however, from a media perspective a Category 1 hurricane is going to hit the East Coast and it is like judgment day has arrived, the whole country should shut down, life is suspended, etc. A Category 3 or 4 hurricane targets the Gulf Coast and the media treats it like it is old news . . . unless it impacts certain constituencies. I guess it just reinforces the fact that the media views the axis of the earth as running through the Northeast.

Good luck with Sandy, my comment above is directed at the media, not the good folks that are threatened by the storm.

High tide and a full moon are making things interesting to say the least. My rain gauge is at 4 inches so far and another 36 hours of rain to go.

Good luck Hutty! I hope that you have a portable generator with a large quantity of fuel. After Ike struck the Houston area three years ago, my subdivision was without electricity for 14 days.

Mine too, and that was in mid-September. Miserable. Now I have my generator and a window AC unit that I can use to at least make one room comfortable.

Took it on the chin during and after Katrina. While less traumatic for me, Isaac (this year) managed to crush my duck ponds .... Others in the area faired much worse.

I'm in southern New Jersey and it's going over right now. Lots of rain and wind but not that bad. Have a place in Cape May where the hurricane made landfall, flooding will be the issue down the shore.

Hope all you folks stay safe. A partner sent me a picture from his front door in Stamford, Ct. The water was less than "200" feet away. Sheesh

Well, still here and thank you for the best wishes. Up here in NE Pa we ended up with high winds and power outages. I for one did not loose power. AR bud in WV is getting the snow and lots of it. Still stream flash flooding possible and raining and wind.
The storm turned after hitting the NJ coast and slammed MD. and southern Pa.

Seeing some of the photos on the "net," wishing everyone God's Protective Hand to look after all.

Here in Bedford, Pa. just some rain but they closed the schools (what is new) went to Pro Care this morn at 4:30AM and just some sprinkles. Talked with Frank in WVA and they have a couple of inches of snow on the ground. It did bring the leaves off the trees for better hunting visability. There is always a silver lining.

Our thoughts and prayer to all on the path of this storm.

I remember I was only a few days in Texas when hurricane Alicia hit us.

It wasn't very pleasant.

I live about 20 miles west of Philadelphia, PA. Wind and rain was strong last night but I was lucky and didn't lose power. Homes all around me are without power so I guess I just got lucky. Only lost a few tree limbs in the backyard.

The New Jersey coast really got hit hard.

During Alicia we where whithout power for 14 days.........it sucked.

After Katrina and Ike I bought a 20kw diesel genset for the house.........we wont have another Hurricane for 25 years..or until the genset breaks.........

Our prayers are with you. Living here in S. Louisiana we have experienced how miserable it can be after the hurricane. I hope all are safe.

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. Dropped off Coleman propane camp stoves, heaters and lanterns to parents, sisters and brother as none of us have electricity or heat. But we are truly blessed that we are all physically ok - stuff can be fixed or replaced.

My thanks to all of the line workers, firefighters, police, EMTs, and so many others who are working non stop to get things on the right track. My hospital now has full power and off generators but several others had to evacuate as their generators were submerged by the surge. Most hospital staff has remained on site since Monday.

Finally my prayers for the people we have lost and their families.

Living on the water has definite advantages - but Monday we saw the drawbacks. Completely lost the whole ground floor (and living spaces) of the house, and stuff (including my safari stuff) is now floating somewhere in Long Island Sound.

Thankfully, we're safe and sound - stayed with friends inland.

Thoughts and prayers go out to those that had it worse.

Made out OK. Most are still without power in NW NJ. Banks just opened today for the first time since Saturday. Post offices mostly closed...trying to run around Social Security checks as best they can. Gas lines look just like 1973, for those old enough to remember. Could have been worse, I guess, although NYC and the shoreline couldn't have been MUCH worse...looks like Armageddon.

Well thank God the power came on today. My neighbor kept us going with their generator but good friends of ours lost their entire home. Losing power for a few days is nothing compared to what others are going through.
